The Fort Worth Cavalry played a single season in the AFL in 1994 at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena. The Cavalry were the AFL's attempt to plant a North Texas franchise in a market distinct from the Dallas Texans of a few years earlier.
The team folded after one season, but the Cavalry's brief run is part of the AFL's long history of Texas expansion attempts — a lineage that later included the Dallas Desperados, Houston Thunderbears, Austin Wranglers, and San Antonio Force.
