The Philadelphia Quakers played a single season in the top tier of professional hockey, and it was one of the most disastrous campaigns on record. The franchise was the relocated Pittsburgh Pirates hockey club, moved after Depression-era debt overwhelmed its ownership and renamed for Pennsylvania's founding tradition.

The 1930–31 Quakers went 4–36–4, tying the fewest wins by any team in a full season, with the league's worst offense and worst defense. Ownership lost another $100,000 over the season, and the franchise folded afterward — leaving Philadelphia without a top-tier hockey team until the Flyers arrived 36 years later, in 1967.
