KC Sports History
The Kansas City Monarchs are the cornerstone of Kansas City sports identity. The Monarchs (1920–1965) were arguably the most successful franchise in Negro Leagues history, winning ten league pennants and producing more major leaguers than any other Negro Leagues team — including Jackie Robinson, who broke MLB's color line in 1947. Satchel Paige, Buck O'Neil, John Donaldson, Bullet Rogan, and dozens of other Hall of Famers wore Monarchs uniforms. The Kansas City Packers gave the city Federal League baseball in 1914–1915. The Kansas City Scouts spent two seasons in the NHL (1974–1976) before financial collapse forced relocation to Denver as the Rockies, and ultimately to New Jersey as the Devils. The Kansas City Blades won an IHL Turner Cup in 1992. The Kansas City Brigade brought arena football to KC in the 2000s. KC streetwear from Royal Retros captures the entire arc — with the deepest Monarchs catalog you'll find anywhere.
