The Jacksonville Bulls were one of the USFL's 1984 expansion franchises and built one of the loudest fan bases in the league, regularly drawing 40,000-plus to the Gator Bowl. Coached by Lindy Infante, the Bulls went 6–12 in 1984 and improved to 9–9 in 1985 behind quarterback Robbie Mahfouz, veteran Brian Sipe, and running back Mike Rozier, who joined Jacksonville for 1985 after the Pittsburgh Maulers folded.
The Bulls missed the playoffs both seasons and folded with the USFL after 1985, but proved a decade ahead of schedule that Jacksonville could support major-league football — well before the NFL's Jaguars arrived in 1995.
