The Southern California Sun played both seasons of the WFL from 1974 to 1975 at Anaheim Stadium, sharing the venue with the MLB California Angels. The Sun gave Orange County its first major pro football team and were one of the WFL's best-supported franchises in the league's brief two-year history.
Quarterback Pat Haden — who would later play for the NFL Rams — led the Sun in 1975, with the team posting a 7–5 record when the WFL suspended operations in October. The franchise folded along with the league, ending Southern California's WFL era after one full season and one partial year.
