The Rhein Fire played all thirteen seasons of the relaunched WLAF / NFL Europe from 1995 to 2007, based in Düsseldorf and splitting home games between the Rheinstadion and later the LTU Arena. The Fire captured two championships — World Bowl '98 over the Frankfurt Galaxy and World Bowl 2000 over the Scottish Claymores — putting Düsseldorf among the most successful cities in NFL Europe history.
Rhein consistently filled large German stadiums and drew some of the league's strongest local support across both eras of the Düsseldorf football scene. The franchise was dissolved with the rest of NFL Europa after the 2007 season, but the two World Bowl wins remain a defining chapter of the league's German-heavy late era.
