The Tampa Bay Vipers were a charter member of the 2020 XFL, one of eight teams in the league's high-profile relaunch. Playing at Raymond James Stadium under head coach Marc Trestman, the Vipers were among the spring's most-discussed clubs before the season was cut short after five weeks, leaving them with a 1–4 record in the East Division.
Though their Tampa Bay run lasted only a single shortened season, the franchise lived on — it was revived for the 2023 XFL as the Vegas Vipers, carrying the snake identity west before the XFL merged with the USFL to form the UFL in 2024.
