The Scottish Claymores played ten seasons in the WLAF / NFL Europe from 1995 to 2004, splitting home games between Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and Hampden Park in Glasgow. The Claymores were one of the founding franchises of the relaunched 1995 league and gave Scotland its only NFL-affiliated team.
Scotland captured World Bowl '96, defeating the Frankfurt Galaxy 32–27 to claim the championship in the league's second European-only season. The Claymores were dissolved after the 2004 season as NFL Europe contracted, but they remain the only championship franchise based in the British Isles other than the London Monarchs.
