Years Active:1967-1992

Stadium: Met Center

Minnesota began play in 1967 and its first season was marred by tragedy. Bill Masterton, who scored theteam's first goal, died following a severe concussion suffered in agame. Despite the tragedy, the team rallied and made the playoffs in their first season. Minnesota would go on to make two finals appearances, but never won a championship. Financial problems and poor attendance were said to be factors in the team's demise, however a more strange reason was rumored to be the cause. Reports surfaced that the owner's wife threatened to leave him unless he moved the team after he was involved in a sexual harassment case. Whatever the reason, the team was renamed and moved following the 1992 season. The franchise was sold shortly after and Minnesota would receive a new expansion team 8 years later.
