The Claymores joined the World League when the league resumed play in 1995 as a  Europe-only circuit after a two year hiatus. Despite being the worst team in the league their first season, they turned it around to win World Bowl '96 the following year. The league began to struggle financially in the 2000's and looked for new markets. Despite solid crowds, the Claymores were replaced by the Hamburg Sea Devils in 2005.
