The Victoria Aristocrats were a charter member of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association, founded in 1911 by Lester Patrick, who built the league with his brother Frank. The Aristocrats won back-to-back PCHA championships in 1912–13 and 1913–14 and challenged for the Stanley Cup in both title years.
Coached by Lester Patrick throughout the franchise's five seasons, the Aristocrats were built around Frank Foyston and Tommy Dunderdale. The team was renamed the Victoria Cougars for the 1916–17 season, later winning the 1925 Stanley Cup under that identity.
