After the 1984 season, it was clearĀ the Washington Federals' time in DC was done. A deal was madeĀ to move the team to Miami and rename them the Spirit of Miami for the 1985 season. The league, however, announced that it would be moving to the fall in 1986 and the ownership group backed out of the deal not wanting to compete with the Dolphins. The team eventually became the Orlando Renegades.
