The Ghosts started in 1925 as a boys club in Sioux City's West 7th Street neighborhood and won the city junior league in their first season. By 1933 they had the name and the look that stuck — black shirts and pants with an orange skull and crossbones — under first manager Henry "Fats" Fisher. They had already taken to the road two years earlier.
What they played was fast-pitch softball, and what they sold was a show. The comparison people reached for was the Harlem Globetrotters: the Ghosts threw melons instead of softballs, rode bicycles in the outfield, and added basketball to the act in 1934. Underneath the routines was a genuinely dominant club — more than 2,000 wins across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The Second World War broke it up. Most of the roster enlisted, and only a few came back to the team afterward. The Ghosts kept touring with new names on the back until 1956, more than three decades after a group of kids on West 7th first put a team together.

How to order
- Type the number and/or name you'd like on the jersey in the customization fields. You can leave the name field blank if you only want a number.
- Names and numbers are made in ALL CAPS by default. If you want a specific style — such as a lowercase letter or mixed case — please add to the order notes, and/or email custom@royalretros.com.
- To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.
Important review carefully before ordering
Once your order is placed:
- Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
- Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
Construction options
Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.
Custom measurements
We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.
Blank-jersey exchanges
Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe
Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.
Expedited shipping
Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
