The Seattle Rainiers were the kings of minor league baseball in the Pacific Northwest, formed in 1938 when brewer Emil Sick bought the city's Pacific Coast League club, renamed it for Mount Rainier and his Rainier Brewing Company, and built Sicks' Stadium on the site of old Dugdale Field.

Behind hometown ace Fred Hutchinson and a run of powerhouse clubs, the Rainiers captured five PCL pennants (1939, 1940, 1941, 1951 and 1955) and stood for three decades as one of the West Coast's marquee minor-league draws. After the franchise was sold at the end of the 1960 season it was eventually rebranded as the Seattle Angels for its final years in the 1960s.
