The Portland Storm played the 1974 season of the WFL at Civic Stadium (now Providence Park) in Portland, finishing 7–12 in the league's inaugural year. The Storm were one of the Pacific Northwest's first major pro football franchises and gave Portland its lone shot at top-tier football in the 1970s.
The franchise was rebranded as the Portland Thunder for 1975 under new ownership. Portland's WFL chapter, across both Storm and Thunder eras, was one of the longest-running franchises in either city's pro football history.
