The Portland Forest Dragons played three seasons in the AFL from 1997 to 1999 at the Rose Garden (now Moda Center), home of the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers. The Forest Dragons gave the Pacific Northwest its first arena football franchise.
The franchise relocated to Oklahoma after the 1999 season, becoming the Oklahoma Wranglers (and later the Bossier-Shreveport Battle Wings). Portland would not return to AFL play until the Portland Thunder / Steel franchise of 2014–2016, more than a decade later.
