The Orlando Renegades were the rebranded continuation of the Washington Federals franchise, joining the original United States Football League (USFL) for its final 1985 season after relocating from Washington, D.C. Coached by Lee Corso — the future ESPN College GameDay icon, in his only pro head coaching stint — and quarterbacked by Jerry Golsteyn and Reggie Collier, the Renegades went 5–13 at the Florida Citrus Bowl. Despite their losing record, Orlando demonstrated that central Florida could support pro football well before the modern Orlando-area pro sports landscape took shape. The Renegades folded along with the rest of the league at the end of 1985.
