The Jacksonville Sharks played in the first season of the World Football League in 1974. Although the team had great fan support, the owner quit on the team midseason and the Sharks folded after week 14. The following season, the team was replaced by the Jacksonville Express. With new ownership and a new roster including quarterback George Mira, the team had a winning record before the league folded midseason.
