The Detroit Fury played four seasons in the AFL from 2001 to 2004 at the Palace of Auburn Hills, the longtime home of the NBA's Detroit Pistons. The Fury were Detroit's return to arena football, nearly a decade after the original Detroit Drive dynasty folded in 1993.
The franchise folded after 2004 as the AFL transitioned through its mid-2000s consolidation. While the Fury couldn't match the four-championship legacy of the Drive, the team gave Detroit a second AFL chapter and kept arena football alive in one of the league's historic markets.
