The Columbus Destroyers played five seasons in the AFL from 2004 to 2008 at Nationwide Arena, home of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets. The Destroyers were the relocated continuation of the 1999–2003 Buffalo Destroyers franchise.
The Destroyers reached ArenaBowl XXI in 2007, falling to the San Jose SaberCats 55–33. The franchise folded with the rest of the AFL after the 2008 season when the league went on hiatus, ending a decade-long franchise journey across two cities.
