Team: Chicago Stags
Years Active: 1946–1950
Home: Chicago Stadium — Chicago, IL

The Stags were one of the original Basketball Association of America franchises, posting a winning record and making the playoffs every season. They joined the NBA in 1949 when the BAA merged with the National Basketball League.

In 1950, Harlem Globetrotters owner Abe Saperstein agreed to buy the team, planning to rename it the Bruins and turn it into a barnstorming regional club. Players balked, Saperstein tried to back out, and the franchise folded instead. Hall of Famer Andy Phillip led a roster that also included Max Zaslofsky, Gene Vance and Kenny Rollins.
