Team: Binghamton Whalers
Years Active: 1980–1990
Home: Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena — Binghamton, NY

The Whalers brought top-level minor league hockey to the Broome County arena in 1980, continuing a Binghamton hockey lineage that began with the Broome County Dusters in the mid-1970s. The green-and-blue identity came from the club's Connecticut parent organization, and the crest was a whale tail rotated to read as a capital B.

Binghamton reached the postseason in eight of ten seasons and ran to a division final in the mid-1980s, developing players including Mike Liut, Kevin Dineen, and Ulf Samuelsson. The affiliation ended after 1989–90, but the Whalers years remain the ones fans still talk about.
