Originally founded as the Nashville Standard Giants, the team quickly moved up the ranks and renamed themselves the Elite Giants. After joining the Negro National League in 1929, the franchise moved around to various cities until settling in Baltimore — where the team is best known and won two titles.
Notable players included Roy Campanella, Leon Day, Junior Gilliam, and Joe Black.
