The Los Angeles Sharks were one of the twelve founding franchises of the World Hockey Association (WHA), playing two seasons at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena and giving the Southern California market a major-league hockey alternative to the established top-tier franchise across town. The Sharks built solid rosters across both seasons with player-coach Terry Slater, defenseman Larry Hale, and Steve Sutherland anchoring the on-ice product.

Despite reasonable crowds and a competitive product, the Sharks struggled to break through in a market firmly held by the established top-tier team. The franchise was sold and relocated to Detroit for the 1974–75 season, where it would become the Michigan Stags. The Sharks' iconic teal-and-yellow jersey design — featuring the toothy shark logo — has made it one of the most beloved obscure 1970s hockey identities.

  • To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.

Once your order is placed:

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
