The Omaha Nighthawks played three seasons of the UFL 2009 from 2010 to 2012 in Omaha — initially at Rosenblatt Stadium and later at the new TD Ameritrade Park. The Nighthawks were the league's first expansion franchise and gave Nebraska its first pro football team in modern history.
The Nighthawks roster was anchored by quarterback Jeff Garcia and running back Ahman Green during the 2010 inaugural season — both former NFL Pro Bowlers — and the franchise drew the strongest crowds in the league. Despite never reaching a league championship game, the Nighthawks were one of the most successful franchises in UFL 2009 history before the league suspended operations in mid-2012 due to financial collapse.
