The Hartford Colonials played a single season of the UFL 2009 in 2010 at Rentschler Field as the relocated continuation of the 2009 New York Sentinels. Coached by Chris Palmer — the former NFL head coach of the Cleveland Browns — the Colonials gave Connecticut its first pro football franchise in the modern era.

The franchise finished 2–6 in 2010 and was suspended ahead of the 2011 season due to ownership and financial issues, never returning to the field. The Colonials are one of the UFL 2009's shortest-tenured franchises — a brief one-season chapter for Hartford-area pro football between the city's earlier ACFL Knights and the eventual return of pro indoor football to the region.
