About the Seattle Sea Dragons

The Sea Dragons were Seattle's entry in the 2023 XFL revival, the Dwayne Johnson-Dany Garcia-RedBird Capital relaunch of the league. Coached by former Cardinals offensive coordinator Jim Haslett (who was succeeded mid-season) and quarterbacked primarily by Ben DiNucci with Steven Montez backing him up, the Sea Dragons played their home games at Lumen Field and brought spring football back to the Pacific Northwest for the first time since the WLAF Seattle Aces era.

Seattle finished 7–3 in the regular season, second in the North Division, and reached the conference championship game where they lost to the Houston Roughnecks. Receivers Josh Gordon (yes, that Josh Gordon) and Juwan Green caught most of the passes; defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo led the league in sacks. When the XFL merged with the USFL after the 2023 season to form the new UFL, Seattle did not survive the consolidation — making the Sea Dragons a one-and-done franchise that fans in the 206 still remember fondly.
