About the Orlando Guardians

The Guardians were the Orlando entry in the 2023 XFL relaunch, the Dwayne Johnson-Dany Garcia-RedBird Capital revival of the league. The franchise rebrand carried the "Guardians" name from the dormant 2020 New York Guardians, transplanted to Central Florida for 2023. Coached by Terrell Buckley (the former Pro Bowl cornerback) and quarterbacked by Paxton Lynch and Quinten Dormady, the Guardians played their home games at Camping World Stadium.

Orlando finished 1–9 in the league's 2023 season, last in the South Division, but produced moments of inspired play including a wild Lynch-led upset of the Houston Roughnecks. When the XFL merged with the USFL after the 2023 season to form the new UFL, Orlando did not survive the consolidation — making the 2023 Guardians a one-and-done franchise. Central Florida fans hoping for the Guardians' return must wait, but Royal Retros throwbacks keep the gold-and-black on the rack.
