About the Memphis Maniax

The Maniax were the Memphis entry in the original XFL in 2001, coached by Kippy Brown (a former NFL assistant) and quarterbacked by Marcus Crandell. Playing at the Liberty Bowl, the Maniax leaned hard into the XFL's wrestling-show aesthetic with a black-and-maroon helmet featuring a full skull logo — the most over-the-top mark in a league full of them.

Memphis finished 5–5 in the league's only season, third in the West Division, narrowly missing the playoffs. Running back Rashaan Salaam (the 1994 Heisman Trophy winner) carried the offense; veteran receiver Reggie Brown caught most of the touchdowns. When the league folded after a single season, the Maniax disappeared with it — but the merchandise has aged into one of the most-requested XFL throwbacks in our catalog. The skull-helmet Maniax look refuses to die.
