About the Chicago Enforcers

The Enforcers were the Chicago entry in the original XFL in 2001, coached by Dick Jauron's former colleague Ron Meyer and playing home games at Soldier Field. With Tim Lester (later a Western Michigan head coach) at quarterback and a defense that included future NFL contributors, the Enforcers leaned into a hard-nosed identity — the team name was no accident in a market famous for the Bears' Monsters of the Midway.

Chicago finished 5–5 in the league's only season, third in the East Division, and just missed the playoffs. Running back John Avery led the team in rushing; defensive end Jamel Williams (later traded to the NY/NJ Hitmen) was among the league sack leaders. The Enforcers drew respectable Soldier Field crowds and looked like one of the more sustainable XFL franchises before the league folded after a single season. Their black-and-red colorway has aged into one of the most-requested XFL throwbacks in our catalog.
