The Albuquerque Six-Guns played two seasons in the Central Hockey League (CHL) from 1973 to 1975, playing at Tingley Coliseum and giving New Mexico its first taste of professional hockey. The Six-Guns were one of the CHL's most distinctive Western-themed identities of the early 1970s, with their iconic logo and color scheme standing out across the league's broader Midwestern footprint.
Financial pressures and the difficulty of sustaining a market without an established hockey tradition forced the Six-Guns to fold after the 1974–75 season. The franchise's brief existence has made the Six-Guns jersey one of the most-collected pieces of obscure 1970s CHL apparel.
