Georgia Sports History

Atlanta hosted the NHL Flames for eight seasons (1972–1980) before the franchise relocated to Calgary, where it eventually won the 1989 Stanley Cup. The Atlanta Black Crackers were Georgia's premier Black baseball franchise across the 1930s–1940s, winning the 1938 NAL second-half pennant. The AAF Atlanta Legends played the 2019 season at Georgia State Stadium.
