• Orlando Apollos. Navy and burnt orange. The class of the league at 7–1, coached by Steve Spurrier, and the closest thing the AAF had to a champion when the plug was pulled.
• Birmingham Iron. Black and steel, named for the city's foundry heritage. Birmingham drew some of the AAF's biggest and loudest crowds at Legion Field.

What was the Alliance of American Football?

The AAF was a spring professional football league that played a single season in 2019. It kicked off the weekend after the Super Bowl with eight teams spread across the South and West, pitched as a developmental complement to the fall game rather than a rival to it. The football was genuinely watchable, the broadcasts rated well out of the gate, and for a few weeks it looked like spring football might finally stick.

Why did the AAF fold?

Money, not football. The league was undercapitalized almost from the start — its largest early backer pledged far more than he delivered, leaving the AAF close to missing payroll after just one week. Majority control passed to businessman Tom Dundon, who put in additional funding but then suspended football operations on April 2, 2019, with two weeks left in the regular season. There was no playoff and no championship game. The Orlando Apollos, sitting at 7–1 and two games clear of the field, were left as the league's best team but never its crowned one.

Who were the eight AAF teams?

The Alliance placed clubs in Orlando, Birmingham, San Antonio, San Diego, Phoenix (the Arizona Hotshots), Salt Lake City, Memphis and Atlanta. Several of those markets had a real appetite for it: San Antonio led the league in attendance and Birmingham was not far behind, both cities that had lost pro football before and turned out for the chance to have it again. That regional loyalty is exactly what these throwbacks are for.

What makes ours period-correct

Each design is built from the team's actual 2019 identity — the specific navy-and-orange of Orlando, the purple of Atlanta, the red-silver-black of San Antonio — rather than a generic template with a logo dropped on. Jerseys carry sewn-on tackle-twill numbers and lettering in era-correct fonts, and every colorway is checked against the real thing before it is listed. Because the AAF lasted only one season, there is exactly one correct look per team, and that is the one we reproduce.

• Did the AAF ever have a champion? No. Operations were suspended before the playoffs, so no title was ever awarded. Orlando finished with the best record at 7–1.
• Is this the same as the XFL or UFL? No. The AAF was its own league and folded in 2019. The XFL played in 2020 and 2023; the two later merged into the UFL. If you're after those, they each have their own collection.
