The San Antonio Commanders played the abbreviated 2019 season of the Alliance of American Football at the Alamodome, leading the league in attendance with average crowds above 27,000. Head coach Mike Riley led the Commanders to a 5–3 record, with quarterback Logan Woodside running the offense.

The Commanders' strong support ended when the AAF suspended operations in April 2019, but it helped lay the groundwork for the city's later USFL and XFL franchises.
