The Royals were a mainstay in Montreal for over 60 years, winning nine International League championships in the minor leagues. The team is probably best remembered as Jackie Robinson's final stop before being called up to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947 — breaking Major League Baseball's color line.
Robinson was beloved by Montreal fans and led the Royals to the Junior World Series during his lone 1946 season with the club. Other Hall of Fame Royals included Roberto Clemente, Tommy Lasorda, Duke Snider, Don Drysdale, Roy Campanella, Sparky Anderson, and Waite Hoyt — one of the most decorated Cooperstown rosters of any minor-league franchise.
