The Detroit Drive were the defining dynasty of the early AFL, capturing four ArenaBowl championships across six seasons at Joe Louis Arena. The Drive won three straight titles in 1988, 1989, and 1990, then added a fourth in 1992 — a stretch that established Detroit as the dominant franchise of arena football's first era.

Head coach Tim Marcum, who had won ArenaBowl I with Denver, took over the Drive in 1988 and built a system that defined the early league. Quarterback Art Schlichter and standout receiver Gary Mullen anchored the offense across the championship years. The Drive folded after the 1993 season, but the franchise's four-title run remains one of the most successful stretches in arena football history.

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
