The Bullets began as the Chicago Packers in 1961 — big-league basketball's first expansion team. Realizing they'd named themselves after the local football team's biggest rival, the team changed its name to the Chicago Zephyrs. The change lasted only one season as the team moved to Baltimore and became the Bullets in 1963.

In 1973, they moved down the road and became the Capital Bullets for one season before changing their geographical designation to Washington. The franchise captured the 1978 NBA championship by defeating the Seattle SuperSonics 4–3 in a seven-game Finals — Wes Unseld (1969 NBA MVP), Elvin Hayes, and Bob Dandridge anchored the title roster under head coach Dick Motta. The franchise dropped the Bullets nickname in 1997 in favor of Wizards.

  • To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
