The Vancouver Blazers were the relocated Philadelphia Blazers, moved west for the 1973–74 season after a difficult single year in Philadelphia. Joining the World Hockey Association (WHA) at the Pacific Coliseum, the Blazers gave Vancouver its second concurrent major-league professional hockey team, playing alongside the established top-tier franchise across town.

Andre Lacroix continued as the offensive star, posting another high-scoring season, and the Blazers built competitive rosters across their two seasons in Vancouver. However, the difficulty of competing for hockey attention in a city already committed to its established team forced ownership to relocate the franchise to Calgary for the 1975–76 season, where it would continue as the Calgary Cowboys. The Blazers' bright yellow and orange color scheme remains one of the most distinctive visual identities in 1970s hockey.
