The New York Raiders were one of the twelve founding franchises of the World Hockey Association (WHA), playing a single 1972–73 season at Madison Square Garden as a same-building tenant of the established top-tier New York franchise. The Raiders' arrangement with MSG made them the most prominent WHA presence in a top-tier market — and also one of the most operationally constrained.

The Raiders struggled to compete for fan attention and ice availability across their lone season and were unable to renew their lease at the Garden. The franchise was rebranded as the New York Golden Blades for 1973–74 in an attempt to refresh the identity before the operation relocated to New Jersey midway through that season. The Raiders' single-season run remains one of the most iconic short-lived WHA chapters.
