The Dallas Texans played two non-consecutive seasons in the AFL — first in 1990, then again in 1993 — at Reunion Arena in downtown Dallas. The Texans were among the early expansion franchises pushing arena football into the major Sun Belt markets during the league's first decade.
Dallas's AFL presence was later revisited in the 2000s with the Dallas Desperados (2002–2008), a separate franchise owned by Jerry Jones that became one of the most prominent AFL II-era teams. The original Texans laid the groundwork for Dallas as an arena football market.
