The Dallas Desperados played seven seasons in the AFL from 2002 to 2008 at American Airlines Center, owned by Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. The Desperados were one of the highest-profile AFL II franchises and gave Dallas its second AFL chapter after the early-1990s Dallas Texans.

The Desperados reached the AFL playoffs multiple times during their run and were among the league's most-marketed teams across the 2000s. The franchise folded after 2008 when the AFL went on hiatus, ending Dallas's longest continuous AFL presence.
