Team: Washington Commandos
Years Active: 1987–1989 (AFL)
Home: Capital Centre — Landover, MD

The Washington Commandos were one of four charter franchises when the Arena Football League launched in 1987, playing home games at the Capital Centre in suburban Maryland. The Commandos lasted three seasons in the DC market before folding after 1989, one of the league's earliest expansion casualties.

Despite the short run, the Commandos were part of arena football's founding generation in the mid-Atlantic; the market did not host another AFL franchise until later league expansion.
