The Atlantic Schooners are one of Canadian pro football's most famous never-played franchises. Awarded as a 1984 CFL expansion team to bring the league to Atlantic Canada, the Schooners were forced to suspend operations before their inaugural season when stadium financing collapsed.

The name has been revived several times since, as Halifax-area ownership groups pursued a new expansion franchise for the Maritimes. None of the attempts has yet produced a regular-season game, and the Schooners endure as a beloved phantom franchise, kept alive through merchandise and a devoted regional fan base despite never taking the field.
