The Wichita Wings were a cornerstone of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), joining as an expansion club in 1979 and playing through the league's final season in 1992 at the Kansas Coliseum's Britt Brown Arena. In a smaller market than most of their rivals, the Wings built a famously passionate following and outlasted nearly all of their league-mates, becoming one of indoor soccer's most enduring and beloved franchises of the era. The club kept the sport alive in Wichita well beyond the original league's collapse, a testament to the loyalty of its fans.
