The New York Express ran for only a partial season in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), taking the floor at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum during the 1986–87 indoor soccer campaign. Backed in part by former Cosmos goalkeeper Shep Messing and featuring U.S. national team star Rick Davis, the Express carried real star power but couldn't translate it into wins, stumbling to a dismal record before mounting losses caught up with them. The club folded just after the league's midseason All-Star break, having played barely half of its scheduled home dates.
