The Michigan Panthers played in both the original United States Football League (USFL) (1983–1984) and the revived USFL (2022–2023). Few franchises in spring football history have a championship pedigree like the Panthers, who hoisted the very first USFL Championship trophy in 1983.
The original Michigan Panthers were the inaugural USFL champions, defeating the Philadelphia Stars 24–22 in the league's first title game on July 17, 1983, at Denver's Mile High Stadium. Coached by Jim Stanley and quarterbacked by Bobby Hebert (named USFL Championship Game MVP) — with All-League receiver Anthony Carter leading the offense, fullback John Williams providing power running, and an offensive line that yielded only 17 sacks all season — the Panthers went 12–6 in 1983 and surged through the playoffs as one of the most balanced teams in the league. Michigan went 10–8 in 1984 before the franchise merged with the Oakland Invaders for the planned 1985 season, with much of the Panthers roster — including Hebert and Carter — joining Oakland.
The revived Michigan Panthers returned in 2022 under head coach Jeff Fisher, then Mike Nolan in 2023, playing road games out of Birmingham before bringing professional spring football back to Detroit's Ford Field for the 2023 home schedule. The modern Panthers went a combined 9–11 across two USFL seasons and continued under the same name when the USFL merged with the XFL to form the UFL in 2024.

How to order

- To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.

- Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
- Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.
Construction options
Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.
Custom measurements
We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.
Blank-jersey exchanges
Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.
Expedited shipping
Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
