About the Jacksonville Bulls

The Jacksonville Bulls were a USFL expansion franchise that played two seasons (1984–1985) at the Gator Bowl. Owned by Fred Bullard and coached by NFL veteran Lindy Infante, the Bulls drew strong North Florida crowds and became one of the most fan-supported teams in the league. The 1985 squad acquired Heisman Trophy winner Mike Rozier from the Pittsburgh Maulers and added veteran NFL quarterback Brian Sipe, briefly building a roster with real star power.

The Bulls finished 6-12 in 1984 and 9-9 in 1985 but never made the playoffs. When the USFL collapsed after 1985, Jacksonville lost pro football and wouldn't get it back until the NFL Jaguars arrived in 1995 — but the Bulls had already proven that Jacksonville could be a real pro-football market.
