The San Francisco Spiders played a single, unforgettable season in the International Hockey League (IHL) in 1995–96, returning major professional hockey to the Cow Palace nearly three decades after the original San Francisco Seals' WHL run ended. Owned by entrepreneur Tony Tavares and coached by Jean Perron, the Spiders went 41–32–9 in their inaugural and only campaign, reaching the playoffs before falling in the first round.

Despite the strong on-ice debut and one of the most distinctive jerseys in 1990s minor pro hockey — black, purple, and orange with the cartoon spider mark — financial losses and arena conflicts at the aging Cow Palace forced the Spiders to fold after a single season. The franchise's brief existence has made the Spiders jersey one of the most-collected pieces of obscure 1990s IHL apparel.

  • To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
