The Kansas City Blades brought professional hockey back to Kemper Arena 14 years after the Kansas City Scouts folded, joining the International Hockey League (IHL) as a 1990 expansion franchise. The Blades quickly became one of the league's strongest organizations, capturing the Turner Cup championship in their second season (1991–92) and remaining competitive throughout the decade.

Across their 11 seasons in Kansas City, the Blades made the playoffs nine times and produced a steady pipeline of players who went on to careers at the top tier of professional hockey. The franchise folded with the IHL in 2001 and was not among the six teams absorbed into the American Hockey League. The Blades' championship banner and their distinctive blue, silver, and black uniform identity remain one of the most-remembered chapters of late-1990s minor pro hockey.

  • To order a fully blank jersey, check the "Leave blank" box. Blank jerseys still require full production time — we don't keep them in stock.

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
