The Cincinnati Mohawks were one of the earliest professional hockey franchises in Cincinnati, playing nearly a decade of minor-pro hockey at Cincinnati Gardens from 1949 to 1958. The Mohawks rotated between leagues during their existence, eventually settling into the International Hockey League (IHL) in the mid-1950s.
The Mohawks' nine-season run made Cincinnati Gardens one of the foundational venues of mid-century midwestern minor-pro hockey, and the franchise's identity laid the groundwork for the city's later hockey ventures including the Cincinnati Stingers WHA team of the 1970s and modern professional minor-league hockey in the Queen City.
